So Greek, So Chic Cooking & Creativity

Discover a new culture, explore Greek traditions and get creative with Medway Culture Club this November.
At Medway Culture Club, we believe some of the best learning happens when children can experience culture first hand. Our next session, So Greek, So Chic, will bring the sights, traditions and flavours of Greek culture to our young members through an engaging cultural lesson, hands-on cooking and creative arts and crafts.
Taking place on Saturday 14th November, from 10:30am to 1pm at MidKent College in Gillingham, this special session will combine cultural education with the practical activities our children love.
Discover Greek culture with Maidstone Greek School
We are delighted to welcome Maidstone Greek School, who will deliver an interactive lesson introducing children to Greek culture, heritage and traditions.
Established in 1989 by the Greek and Cypriot community, Maidstone Greek School was founded to help preserve Greek language, customs, traditions and Greek Orthodox faith for future generations. Over the years, it has developed from a community-led initiative into a learning and cultural hub, with structured lessons and qualified teachers supporting children as they explore their heritage.
Today, the school continues to promote Greek language learning, bilingualism, cultural identity and a sense of belonging. Its work also embraces Greek history, religious and national celebrations, helping keep traditions alive while welcoming people who wish to learn about the language and culture.
We are proud to work with organisations that share our belief in the importance of cultural education, community connections and celebrating the diversity that makes our local area special.

From cultural learning to cooking and creativity
Following the cultural lesson, the Medway Culture Club team will lead two practical activities designed to bring the experience to life.
Cook and feast
Children will explore Greek-inspired food through a hands-on cooking activity, discovering flavours and food traditions while developing practical skills and enjoying the experience of preparing food together.
Arts and crafts
Our creative activities will give children the opportunity to make their own cultural creations, explore Greek-inspired designs and express what they have learnt through art.
These activities are about more than having fun. They encourage curiosity, teamwork, confidence and an appreciation of cultures beyond our own.
Why cultural education matters
Medway Culture Club was established to create opportunities for children and families to learn about different cultures, build meaningful connections and develop a greater understanding of one another.
By introducing children to traditions from across the world, we aim to challenge stereotypes, encourage conversations and help young people appreciate both the differences and similarities that connect us.
Sessions like So Greek, So Chic provide a welcoming space where children can ask questions, try something new, learn practical skills and make friends through shared experiences.
Join us for So Greek, So Chic!
We look forward to welcoming our young members for a morning of discovery, delicious food and creativity.
