Join Medway Culture Club for a completely bespoke guided walking tour of some of Kent’s diverse histories.
In this exclusive tour experience, children and their grown-ups will board the MCC Tour Bus at Woodlands Youth Centre, before travelling to Gravesend to visit some of Kent’s magnificent landmarks which pay tribute to some of the county’s diverse history. There will be fun activities along the way and the chance to win prizes!
We request at least one parent/carer to accompany up to 3 children booked on to the tour, they will need to book a ticket too, but adults will be charged a 50% concession price of just £4.
Tour Schedule
9am - All aboard the MCC Tour Bus at Woodlands Youth Centre, Gillingham.
10am - Disembark at Gordon Promenade East for a welcome and introduction to Gravesend as the gateway to England.
2nd Stop - Walk to St Andrew’s Church beside the River to learn about Rev C E R Robinson and the significance of migration in Kent.
3rd Stop - St George’s graveyard and Pocahontas statue to hear how Pocahontas became Gravesends most famous emigrant.
4th Stop - Gravesend pier, opposite Tilbury Cruise Terminal where the HMT Empire Windrush docked with Caribbean migrants 75 years ago.
5th Stop - Gravesend Gurdwara for a guided tour of the beautifully ornate Sikh place of worship with an opportunity to try some traditional vegetarian dishes.
12:30pm - All aboard the MCC Tour bus to return to Woodlands Youth Centre.
