Meet Our Chairman: Jerome Xavier

Not just the chairman, Jerome is one of the founding members of Medway Culture Club and has been instrumental in helping build a team of like-minded individuals with a common goal... To support children within Medway through community cohesion and cultural exchange.

Born and raised in Chatham, Jerome has first-hand experience of the local education system both as a pupil and now an experienced teacher in mainstream secondary schools and currently Head of Physical Education and teacher of Ethics and Character Education in a special needs school.

Jerome was also recipient of a ‘Pride in Medway’ award in 2020, for Volunteer of the Year as a result of over 10 years voluntary work in the local community, as a highly qualified Boxing coach.

“With the Medway community becoming ever more diverse, I believe its important for the young people of Medway to learn about different cultures, which will help promote a more inclusive society in Medway. MCC will provide a setting for youngsters that will promote respect for different cultures, lead to a greater understanding of their own identities and raise aspirations, by having regular contact with positive local role models.”
