Medway Culture Club Carnival returns! Join us on Saturday 5th August

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!! Medway Culture Club Carnival returns to Woodlands Youth Centre, Gillingham on Saturday 5th August 2023.

Medway Culture Club Carnival is a family-friendly Fun Day that aims to bring the community together and celebrate the diversity among us!

It’s no coincidence that we have chosen to align the Medway Culture Club Carnival with the Notting Hill Carnival. We will take inspiration from this prestigious and multicultural event and hope to bring a little bit of much-needed togetherness to Medway! The objective of this event is to raise awareness of Medway Culture Club, promote local businesses and partnerships, educate, entertain and celebrate diversity in the heart of our community! For this event, we have managed to secure Medway’s finest music sound system and resident DJs - Intention Studio ft Mikey Ragga for an authentic blend of Reggae, Soca and Calypso music. We will also partner with local food vendors, Jerk Cafe (Caribbean) and Heyam's Kitchen (Middle Eastern) to sell an array of food on the day. Entertainment and activities on the day for the community to experience include; - Procession with float - playing music and followed by the community and hired carnival dancers in costume. - Flag making - Dance class - Limbo competition - Steelpan entertainment & lessons - Carnival head-dress making - Face-painting - Carnival quiz

- Badge making - Arts and crafts - Ice cream and refreshments - Raffle - Tombola The main event is planned to take place between 11am - 4pm on Saturday 5th August at Woodlands Youth Centre, Woodlands Road, Gillingham, Kent, ME7 2BX (which has both indoor and outdoor space to be utilised).
